Eclipse Auto Refinishing 30 Years design project.
The Design.

This clothing project involved alot of moving pieces. First of all, It wouldn't have been possible without the print shop and bay that graciously let me use their printing equipment that shop being Print & Platen. When tackling a project like this you have to communicate effectively with your client to achieve the best possible outcome. With this design, Eclipse wanted the halftone effect around the car to be nearly a gradient effect but still give that broken up feel. We went through some different ideations with more sport like cars, but the sedan, frankly simplistic style car ended up winning.
The Printing.

This was the first time I had tackled a screen printing project of this scale. The client and I took a long time mauling over specific clothing options and which options might be better for each scenario. We ended up going for a variety of different clothing types, from RedKap workwear to King Brand short sleeve shirts.
Not only were these different styles of clothing but also different layouts, we wanted to see how different styles of the design would pair. For the longsleeves, we did all sides (Both arm prints, back print, and left chest.) For the hoodies we did a mix of arm prints, no arm prints, the full back print, some without the 30 years at the bottom. We tried it all so that we would have some variety.
We did end up printing both black and white varaties to each garment.
I really enjoyed the process of screenprinting and actually bringing a design like this to full scale. I hope that in the future, I can either do this again with myself, another, or the same client.
If you havent tried screenprinting as an artform yet, give it a shot!
